Description
On offer here is the excellent Scott Walker LP 'Scott 4',which is the Original UK Philips release from 1969.It carries the matrix 1Y/2Y,which I believe indicates one of the very 1st pressings.This is a great,underrated LP,which didn't sell as well as it's predecessors.All the tracks were written by Scott,himself,on this album and I feel it shows great maturity and is one of my favourites.The sleeve(which is mainly black on the outside) certainly shows signs of white rubbing or wearing on the front and back,but it is still sturdy and intact.The inside of the gatefold is much better,with only minimal wear,but there is a liitle wear along the edges where the vinyl is inserted into the sleeve.I will grade it as VERY GOOD+.The labels remain EXCELLENT-,with just the merest hint of wear around the spindle hole on one side.This brings me to the vinyl,and as I know this album fetches decent prices,I will be as honest and accurate as possible.Firstly,the album plays absolutely great,with no skips or jumps whatsoever.There is a little very light background crackle through some of side 1 and there is a tiny mark between track 3 and 4,which leads to very light ticks that last for less than 10 seconds.Scott's vocals still come through powerfully,as does the instrumentation.Side 1 is very good+,but Side 2 is even better,with just the very merest light background crackle at times.Side 2 is excellent,so overall I will grade the vinyl as EXCELLENT-.The vinyl comes in a plain white polylined inner sleeve,which has some browning and a hole in line with the spindle hole of the record.In summary:
