You are bidding on a copy of blues weirdo Screamin' Jay Hawkins' jaw-dropping debut LP, At Home With Screamin' Jay Hawkins The album features twisted takes on standards like "I Love Paris," "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," and "Old Man River" (Hawkins idolized Paul Robeson) alongside his zany originals including the famous "I Put A Spell On You" and my personal favorite, "Hong Kong," in which Jay paints a surreal portrait of the city interspersed with scat-like approximations of Chinese. Jay's incredible vocal dynamics and theatrical stylings, both in person and on record, put him and his music far ahead of his time and this record is a one-of-a-kind oddball masterpiece.
The album is an original Mono pressing on Epic Records. The record is VG+ and the sleeve is VG with the initials of the original owner on the back in faded purple marker. Valued NM at over $1000 (and available for you big spenders here) this is a great chance to own a player copy of this classic at a great price.
