Description

So I, John Jughead, had a flood while I was in DC.  I then proceeded to sell some of my surviving items.  Now because I got to communicate with some fans and realized that they would treat this stuff better than I would, I have decided to purge it all.  I got the memories in my head, and quite frankly that is enough, the rest is nostalgia and gravy.  I also just want to say this has ALL to do with the flood and nothing to do with recent events in Weasel history.
I wasn't going to place this one on sale because I thought it was ruined, but when it dried out it played ok and the cover is... fine.  You can't really remove it from the plastic without the cover pealing a bit, but the full design is still there.  I have a few pictures here to show you the condition.
This is the first pressing of Punkhouse.  It is the test pressing that came to us.  Limited Potential pasted together a cover for us so that we could see what the whole package would look like.   The shots on back and front were in Vermin's basement.  His mother was very kind to us, and would often invite us up for some pop and cookies.
I can't recall if I did the whole art for this but I DO remember tracing the red Screeching Weasel writing onto a clear plastic piece of acetate, so that we could have the black & white, and red color separation.  Thing One and Thing Two are of course Dr. Seuss references.  Ben painted all of that stuff on the wall behind us.  This may be the happiest that incarnation of the band had ever been.  Things fell apart a bit when a couple lies began to float around us, and names were being called.  If you notice, there is no beer can touching my guitar in the middle.  I never liked beer, still don't.  The band lineup that is most popular is Weasel, Jughead, Panic, Vapid but I believe the band best got along as a "band" during this earlier lineup.  I think it is the one time in our career I could truly say we were "punks."  We toured for a month in a chevy malibu, scrunched together in a vehicle with no air conditioning, driving through the desert.
I wrote about that period in my book, but I accidentally left out one story:
Ben and I did most of the driving, 10,000 miles on that tour.  We were not popular then, so we couldn't get to gigs in a straight line from point A to point B, so we often passed by a place we had just played two days earlier on a way to another gig 10 hours in the other direction.  This happened to us constantly in the large state of Texas.  I think we averaged 7 to 10 hour drives every day for about Two weeks straight (we started the tour with one 50 drive from Chicago to Seattle).  We played every night in Texas on top of all those drives.  One late night, Ben driving, me shotgun, Ben turns to me with the heaviest of tired eyes I had ever seen on him and he said, "Is their a little green man riding on a bicycle outside my window."  "No Ben, I think it is my turn to drive."  I got in the driver's seat and no more than a half hour went by when I nudged Ben who was sitting shotgun now.  "Ben?"  "Yeah?"  "We better pull over and get some rest."  "Why?"  "I just saw your little green man."
