Excellent condition!
How To Make A Record was published sometime in 1980 by the band Scritti Politti, while they took a few months off from making music because band leader Green Gartside was recovering from stress-induced ill health.
The booklet aimed to be a comprehensive guide to recording and releasing a record for aspiring indie artists, based on Scritti Politti’s personal experience of putting out their first three singles independently, plus extra research they’d done on the subject. As such, How To Make A Record meticulously documents every aspect of recording, cutting, processing and pressing records, getting sleeves and labels made, distribution and promotion, how long everything takes and how much it costs.
According to the Scrits, back in 1980 you could get 1000 7" singles made for around £400….
They even gave the booklet a catalogue number - SCRIT 3.
