One of a handful of rarities we have just had in, see our me page for more.
Nice unplayed/never opened 1st thus issue of Audiophile USA has sold opened copies of these for $40 each, and seeing a sealed one this long after the issue is increasingly uncommon. This appears to be flat. There is an obi sash along the top. Walter was a great Brahmsian, and this loses the compression and gives a truer impression of the fullness of the string tone that the master tapes had, as is heard to nearly the same degree on the Philips and 60's UK Columbia pressings, which I hope to add some of if I can find them. The Penguin Guide refers to the "White hot intensity of his conducting, showing him at his very finest, in the first two movements", with this being their first choice account..
