redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This lovely LP – with striking cover photography by Paul Huf – from Philips (S 04021 L, "Favourites Series", Dutch pressing, heavy flat vinyl, yellow label, mono) features Berl Senofsky’s resplendent account of Brahms’s Violin Concerto in D Major Op. 77, recorded with conductor Rudolf Moralt and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in the warm acoustics of the Brahms-Saal, the Musikverein, Vienna on 21 December 1955. It was earlier that same year that Senofsky (1926-2002) became the first – and still only – American to win the prestigious Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. He was a remarkable violinist.
The lovely cover art, by photographer Paul Huf (1924-2002), features the beautiful British-born model Ann Pickford, with typography by Herry van Borssum Waalkes. As a marketing concept for classical music, it was ahead of its time and not wholly appreciated at the time. The fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket, in English only, are uncredited.

CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. The only real flaw concerns extensive aging and discoloration to the rear panel. However, there are no seamsplits, owners’ markings, bends, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and attractive – overall, a very good collector’s copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and playback is superb, close to NM. Those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
