Another Italian Jazz grail listed - Gianni Basso & Oscar Valdambrini Sexstet composed of G.Basso on tenor sax, O.Valdambrini at trumpet, Lionello Bionda at the drums, Renato Sellani on piano, Giorgio Azzolini at the bass, Dino Piana - trombone. Also known as 'Arden For Men' session, the cosmetics brand who sponsorized the contest "THE BEST MODERN JAZZ IN ITALY 1962" won by the great sexstet that gave the title to this magnificent Italian Jazz album. A real landmark in European Jazz featuring some of the hottest Hard Bop samples ever heard - groovy Modal & Modern Jazz tunes - Cool & Contemporary cult classic music & smoothy arrangements - Killer stylish Jazz clubbing vibes. Back liner notes are written by mr. Giampiero Boneschi, later become Abstract & Avant-garde Electronic master. Original Rca Victor 1st quality pressing with 'deep groove' labels and Black & Silver lettering. Released on heavy vinyl housed in the original Rca company inner sleeve. Outstanding sleeve artwork representing artists taking a flight after the contest triumph. Legendary jam!

You can easy get an idea listening to the opening track: "MONOTONIA" easily one of the best examples of Italian Hard Bop music, with insane Bionda's drumming Bop tempo and Azzolini's stoned contrabass, high class vibes. "DR. JACKLE" gives stunning boppish Jazz cues, "COLTRANE STYLE" is a lovely Coltrane-styled Jazz club tune. Sweet smoothy theme on "IN YOUR OWN STREET WAY" and other Cool Jazz & Modal nice vibes on the B side with the excellent "JUBILATION", "VINNIE'S COMPONENTS" and the rhythmic "ARE YOU REAL?".

Nice collectible copy.
