Sex Pistols – Anarchy in the UK, 1976 7” EMI 2566.
This is a frustrating example of Anarchy in the UK / I Wanna Be Me by The Sex Pistols. It was released on the EMI label in 1976 – EMI 2566 – and is mainly in EX condition. The reason it is frustrating is that……. There is a very small split at the edge. It looks like a small scratch and it sounds as a ‘click’ twice – once in the run-in area, and then a very quiet ‘tick’ about three times and then after that it is perfect. VERY annoying – but nothing I can do about it. The stylus does not jump or anything like that. The b-side label has the Dave Goodman production credit. The record will be supplied in an original EMI company cover.I listed this record earlier in the month - Item No. 391648997558. The genuis who won that auction paid straight away and I posted it to him. Three days later he opened a Return Case because......... (wait for it........) there is a small split at the edge of the record - that he considered worse than the scratch described. I have received the record back (for which I had to pay £3 to eBay! - over £2 more than it actually costs to post!) and so I guess that just in case of any further misunderstandings I ought to stress just what is wrong with the record. At the very edge in around the ten o'clock position there is what looks like a small scratch. It is actually a small neat split. I am assuming that it was dropped at some time and landed on its edge. Nothing is missing. It looks like a small scratch on the a-side and is invisible on the b-side. Although visually (using a magnifying glass) it looks like it affects around a dozen grooves I just checked it again and yes - it litereally can be heard as those couple of 'clicks' and then a couple of 'ticks'. If it was a quiet record there may well be a couple more 'ticks' than I can hear but due to the nature of the music I cannot hear anything else. As a 'playing copy' it is fine. The reason I am listing this record - despite such an obvious fault is that in my opinion after (and despite) these couple of seconds where a tiny noise can be heard is FAR better than a record that has been played to death and sounds all 'hissy' and grades as G or worse. It is impossible to be an expert in all realms of collecting, and I am honestly representing this item to the best of my knowledge and ability. If the item has a fault then I have mentioned it. I also encourage you to ask any questions you may have during the auction to help clarify identification or condition, as I may inadvertently omit information that you as a collector feel is important.
I never use reproduction company covers - only genuine / vintage ones. As such - these may not be original to the record and only rarely will they be stunning, as - usually - they are between 40-60 years old. They may have writing or stickers on them, but will grade at least VG and upwards. And just occasionally - they are perfect! If by chance this is important to you - please ask about the specific sleeve pictured. Where I am not able to provide an original cover I use brand new plain paper covers.
I am not able to provide scans of paper items and I have no facility to record / copy any records.

TRACKING NUMBER. If an item sells for more than £40, (or for a package that has a total value of more than £40) it will need to be sent with a Tracking Number - the Royal Mail's International Tracked service.
