Sex Pistols – God Save The Queen / Did You No Wrong 1977 UK Virgin VS 181 Original 7" Single – Jamie Reid Sleeve – Excellent Cond!

Full Description:

Up for auction is a genuine 1977 UK original pressing of the Sex Pistols' iconic "God Save The Queen" 7" single on Virgin Records (catalogue VS 181). This is the classic punk artefact that defined 1977 — released right in the middle of the Queen's Silver Jubilee, banned by the BBC, and still one of the most culturally explosive singles ever issued.

Sleeve: Iconic Jamie Reid artwork in excellent shape — the deep purple/blue background with the blinded/silenced Queen image looks sharp.

• Front: Classic oval portrait with "God Save The Queen" over the eyes and mouth, Sex Pistols logo in jagged white lettering.
• Back: Track titles and timings applied as cut-out ransom-note style strips ("GOD SAVE THE QUEEN 3.20", "d/d/d YOU NO WRONG 3.09").
• Spine shows VS 181.
• Minimal edge wear, no splits, no ring wear, colours remain vivid. Very solid mid-to-high grade sleeve for a 48-year-old punk single. (I'd grade it EX / Excellent — close to Excellent+)

Vinyl: Glossy black vinyl with minimal signs of play.

• Clean surfaces with only light, faint paper scuffs/hairline marks visible under strong light (typical for the era and no deep scratches or scuffs from a hard life).
• No warps, no spindle marks that are excessive.
• Labels are the classic blue Virgin design with silver text on both sides (early pressing style).

  • Side B: "DID YOU NO WRONG" / VS 181B
• Dead wax / runout etchings not fully visible in photos but appear hand-etched and consistent with original UK pressings (no obvious reissue indicators).

This is not a reissue, picture disc, French export, mispressed A&M version, or later repress with white text labels — this is the real 1977 UK Virgin first-wave pressing that actually charted (#2 officially, #1 on NME) amid total controversy.
