I just play tested this lp twice and it is pure punk heaven. Very clean and super-glossy with a hi-fi experience that is truly amazing. Best played loud. Heavy bass. I am play testing it now and am pretty blown away by it. THIS IS WHY WE LISTEN TO VINYL. This record isn't absolutely perfect, has some very slight wear.There is some extremely light noise between tracks. Overall, this is a stunning record. No snaps, crackles or pops., absolutely sounds sublime. Sounds like you were listening to a CD (If cd's could sound this good.) . This is a collector's copy to be certain. There are several light marks on vinyl (the kind that go away in the bright light)l, visually graded VG++/EX- (conservative)The play test reveals an EXCELLENT sound. I offer 100% money back guarantee. Plainly put, it behooves me to grade accurately as I do not want to deal with the hassle of a return. WHY IS THIS RECORD SO EXPENSIVE??!!!?!?!?! There were approximately 1,000 copies released with the combination of having only 11 tracks (no submission) and having no titles on the back cover.
The original UK album (this one) (Virgin V2086) contained only eleven tracks, before the group changed their mind and decided to include the track "Submission". There are 4 varieties of matrix numbers that can appear on the dead-wax of these 1,000 records--mine is A2 V2086, B1 V2086.
Virgin had already pre-emptively made stampers for the eleven-track version, and by October 1977 had already pressed 1,000 copies. Rather than lose these, Virgin released them anyway, initially as promos in an attempt to counteract a deluge of imports from France, where a twelve-track version of the album (including "Submission") had been released in mid-October by the Barclay Records.
In response, Virgin also brought forward the album's intended UK release date by a week, and instead of waiting for the twelve-track album to be mastered, issued further copies of the eleven-track album (reportedly 50,000 copies, although some collectors now claim these official figures as way on the high side). Most of these copies included a poster and "Submission" as a single and had song titles on back cover. Then the mass-production of the 12 track version began.
This is one of the first thousand ever pressed. Get a copy while you can. As records become more and more popular there is a dwindling supply of these 1,000 as new collector's will refuse to sell them. The cover is also very sexy, the only wear is on the spine as shown. No wrinkles, creases, bends, stains or writing. The labels are in excellent condition.
