A slice of punk history for sale here? 1st Press Album (V2086 A3/B3) + 7'' Submission one-sided single (VDJ-24 A2)
According to this highly informed punk website: http://www.philjens.plus.com/pistols/pistols/pistols_nmtb.htm this copy of the Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols is not just a genuine 1st pressing, but one of the first thousand pressed. However, there may even be a further plus side, in that this copy has the Submission 7" one-sided single with it. There are so many variations of this album that it is possible that even though the first 1000 apparently didn't have the free single, this one has it. Or possibly the original owner bought it separately and added it later. Whatever the case, this is a slice of punk rock history that rarely comes up for sale.
Condition: Visually, the album looks Ex and the labels are clean. It looks to have had very few plays.
Single: Visually, it looks to be VG+, there are a couple of light marks, so I wouldn't visually rate it any higher.
Play grade: The album plays less than Ex. There are no skips or pops or cracks, but it is crackly to varying degrees, particuarly between tracks. But this has never stopped me listening to and enjoying the whole album through on the few occasions I've played it. The crackles are more pronounced in some places than others ... but as it's such loud record anyway!
Play grade Submission single: This has crackling throughout and is more of a collection piece than a playing piece.
Having been stored for such a long while, a good deep clean on a wet machine, or similar, may further improve the sound of both records.
