Description
A variant 1 first UK pressing of the Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s LP in the original mono format from 1967 on the Parlophone label. The LP is in it’s original gatefold cover and inner “psychedelic” sleeve. The gatefold cover is the wider spine version and includes the lyrics to all the songs on the back. Side 1’s run-out is stamped XEX 637-1 while side 2’s is stamped XEX 638-1. Includes the un-named locked groove run-out track B7 on side 2.
The LP is in good visual condition with some light marks on both sides plus one short scratch on side 2. The LP has been cleaned and then played and checked for playback quality on a Pro-Ject turntable with an ADC cartridge - a number of not too intrusive clicks were audible throughout track A6, track B4 has a couple of clicks near the end, track B6 has a couple of clicks towards the start. The LP would probably benefit from a professional clean in a Keith Monks record cleaner or similar. The inner sleeve is in good overall condition but a split is developing down one side. The gatefold cover is in good condition with some short creases along the outer bottom edges, a thumb shaped crease towards the back cover’s top left corner and some de-lamination in the bottom left corner when viewed from the front. The card insert originally included with this release was unfortunately lost some time ago.
