Description
Original 1971 pressing of Shades Of Deep Purple on UK Parlophone [2 Emi Box]. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 1-RH/2-RR. The heavy set vinyl is a 1970/71 pressing with the two Emi boxes showing. The vinyl comes housed in an original early 70's flipback fully purple back cover. Please note these covers were discontinued around this time and were totally redesigned. It's the fully purple flipback sleeve that identifies this copy - along with the stampers - as an early copy. Also included is the original late 60's sepia toned Emi advertising inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex) In excellent condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. This is the first cut of this LP and not that long after original release. As a result you will be treated to audio you just can't find on a pressing only a year or two later. Intros and inbetweens are quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Please expect a touch of light static in a couple of isolated moments - certainly nothing remotely invasive.
Cover (Vg+) In great condition and has clearly been looked after down the years. The front is shiny like new and one would imagine difficult to better. The rear is also in great condition without ageing or marking. Please note the flipbacks have taken a bit of a knock. In the top-right there's a touch of the surface missing and the bottom is a bit creased, but is stuck down tightly. Edge wear is pretty minimal and the spine is 100% intact. Oveall the cover maintains excellent rigidity. A very nice specimen indeed.
Inner (Ex) Minimal ageing and no marks. Bottom slight split - repaired with tape.
