Up for auction is a NEW SEALED UNOPENED Copy of:
Sheffield Labs "The Missing Linc" Sheffield Labs: S10
This is a Direct To Disc (D2D) Recording which means the performance was recorded direct to the LP with no Tape in the process. This is a VERY BIG DEAL when Fidelity, Transient Response, Imaging, Detail and Dynamic Range is Concerned. This is the second D2D that Sheffield Produced, but it was the first that was produced in large enough numbers to become "Well Known".
The music is a combination of Rock, Jazz and Classical and is Great music to listen to as well as using it to evaluate High End Audio Equipment.
Record companies do not do this D2D Process because of the difficulty involved. The entire side of the LP must be recorded mistake free - if on the last song a mistake is made, the whole side must be redone. In a normal recording, several takes are required just to make one song - they are pieced together later with many passes through a tape machine. This has a serious impact on Fidelity.
This is the LP that inspired the development of many High End Audio Components in the 70's as well as inspiring other companies like Mobile Fidelity (MFSL), DCC, Gale and others to also develop High End audio Recordings/Pressings.
It also inspired me to have a 30+ Year Audio Hobby that I still enjoy. I'll never forget when I heard this LP for the first time, it was on some pretty good equipment, and it changed the "Direction" of my audio hobby to what it is today. (A little bit "extreme")
Since The Missing Linc was always one of my favorite LP's, I kept several "Backup" copies. This is because I use this LP to evaluate different High End Audio components I play with and design. Since I take good care of my LP's - I rarely need to replace it.
This LP was not passed around E-Bay a bunch of times. It was mine since the 70's. I've already sold a few on E-Bay in the past. I only have 2 left. I am keeping one of them. This is the LAST Sealed one that I can sell.
This is a RARE chance to get a SEALED Copy of this LP, one that has not been "Ice Picked" by someone else's inferior or worn out playback equipment.
Good Luck!!
