Description
Up for auction is a Sheffield Labs “The Missing Linc”. This is a Direct To Disc (D2D) Recording, NO Tape In The Process.
This has been my favorite LP since 1974. this is also one of the Highest Fidelity LP's I Own.
This is a great LP to evaluate High End Audio Equipment.
This is a rare opportunity to get a SEALED copy that has not yet been "Ice Picked" and carved up by cheap playback equipment.
The second picture is of the rear of the album cover - it shows the cutting lathe as it is recording the music.
I got heavily in to “High End” audio in 1974 when I heard “The Missing Linc” ( Sheffield’s 2nd D2D Recording) on some very good audio equipment.
The drastic difference between the Sheffield recordings and “regular” records amazed me.
I am a VERY big fan of Sheffield LP’s and they are usually what I listen to when I need the “High End Experience”.
When listened to on good Audio Equipment, the “lack of tape” (D2D Recording) becomes extremely apparent and sonically is a VERY BIG Deal.
The Sheffield LP’s are drastically better (Higher Fidelity) than the standard MFSL (Mobile Fidelity) recordings.
(I am a Big MFSL Fan and have almost every LP they ever made)
As an audiophile I am very confused as to why Sheffield LP’s are not more well known than they are.
The MFSL Anadisc 200’s are extremely good, roughly equivalent to the Sheffields.
They are better than each other in different areas, Sheffields being a better recording, but the MFSL’s being a better pressing.
I don’t need the spare sealed copies I have, so I will put one up for auction.
