"This single was the first salvo of a plan that never reached full fruition. Episode Six manager Gloria Bristow decided to capitalise on the band's versatility by concocting a plan whereby each member of the band would cut and release a solo disc. Vocalist Sheila Carter was given the honour of the first one.
The A side is a lovely orchestrated ballad with a nice performance by Sheila if a touch too schmaltzy and MOR for comfort. Sheila herself wasn't happy with it admitting feeling somewhat nervous singing live with the orchestra at the session. She had recorded a demo which appeared many years later on a retrospective CD set where she was backed by basic guitar and bass that is actually more charming and with a better vocal.
The B-side showcased Sheila in Soul pop belter mode... she did a reasonable job and I quite enjoy it. On that she was backed by Episode Six.
There would only be one more single in the solo singles plan almost a year later when Sheilas' brother Graham Carter Dimmock released a single as Neo Maya that was as obscure as the pseudonym he used! So sadly we were never to get debut solo singles by Ian Gillan or Roger Glover (both soon to be in Deep Purple)in the 1960's."
