Shivkumar Sharma Hariprasad Chaurasia Brijbhusan Khabra Call of the Valley EMI
Shivkumar Sharma / Hariprasad Chaurasia / Brijbhusan Khabra - Call of the Valley
EMI Odeon Dum Dum ESCD 2382
S/VG, V/VG++
1968 EMI Dum Dum India pressing of this mythical meeting of the respective Santoor, Flute, and Guitar wizards, with Tabla accompaniment by Manikrao Popatkar. The record was sealed for ages & the sleeve suffers from a bit of bunching; plus it’s clearly a paste-over ala “Yesterday and Today” - the remnants of the previous sleeve are visible in the lower right corner. EMI Odeon placed some nice-looking gold stickers on the lower left of the back & the lower right of the back cover; plus there’s a green-dot sticker on the cover - I’m too scared to remove it myself, but it’s likely a tear. Vinyl on the other hand, while also having the Odeon stickers applied to the labels of each side, is shiny & looks almost unplayed - I’m not going to call it NM due to the sticker, but it sounds great, even with the longer playing length. An excellent starter copy.
