Description
Here is an exceedingly rare artifact, possibly one of a kind: a production acetate from the original 1957-1958 WCAU local Philly TV series Shock Theatre, starring John Zacherle. All it contains are various grunts, moans and howls that were used as the voice of the hilariously inert character Gasport. The acetate record is visually VG, with no chips or deep scratches, but it plays with LOTS OF SURFACE NOISE. The sounds can be clearly discerned from the surface noise, however, and could be made to sound better with the use of a digital noise reduction app. To be clear, this is the actual record that was used in the production of the show, acquired from the estate of a showbiz professional (one on the West Coast who likely had nothing to do with Shock Theatre). The titles of the tracks listed on the label are as follows:
- "Groan of Anguish"
- "Moan & Cry"
- "Moan & Cry (Different)"
- "Cry & Wail"
- "Steady Moans - 1 Minute"
- "Laughter"
- "Howl of Rage"
