Description

This sale is for an 1985 EMI UK pressing of the Complete String Quartet's of Shostakovich as performed by the Borodin String Quartet (EX 2703393) These recordings were made in Moscow between 1978 - 1983 and feature Sviatoslav Richter on the piano.  The seven LP's are pressed with a HMV / Melodia red label record and are all still housed in their original EMI company inners. The set is complete with stapled booklet. The box has a 7 cm abrasion to the base part (on the top edge - see photo) and has some slight rubbing to the corners. However it is structurally very strong and still looks fresh and clean so I have conservatively graded as VG. The Discs are in Excellent condition with 6 of the 7 discs look un-played with no signs of wear and a lovely clean sheen. Most still had the static pull when removed from their sleeves to inspect, so I doubt they have been played much if at all. Disc 1 has a miss-pressed label on the first side that caused a fold  that has obscured some of the label text but this has not effected the playing surface or run off groove (see photo). The only disc which has visible wear is disc number 3, the fifth side has a couple of very faint hair line marks emanating from the centre. The larger a couple of inches and the other a couple of centimetres.  Having listened to side 5 the hairlines do not cause any audible distortion (no skips, jumps or pops) even during the quieter passages.
