Description

Sibelius Chausson Debussy Ginette Neveu UK HMV 4 LPs

The Complete Recorded Legacy of Ginette Neveu

Tragically, Ginette Neveu, regarded as a violinist of the first rank with a brilliant career ahead of her, died in a plane crash at age thirty. This set, “The Complete Recorded Legacy of Ginette Neveu” is a suitable legacy to this extraordinary talent, and includes her recordings of the Sibelius “Violin Concerto” (with the Philharmonia conducted by Walter Susskind), Brahms “Violin Concerto” and Chausson’s “Poeme” with the Philharmonia conducted by Issay Dobrowen), Ravel’s  “Tzigane” and Suk’s “Four Pieces”,  and Debussy’s “Violin Sonata” with brother Jean Neveu and others. Also included is a record featuring tracks recorded as early as 1938 and 1939 by EMI in Germany. A four record set, this is an English mono pressing on the HMV Treasury Label (RL 7392). The records have a few minor superficial surface scuffs, are of otherwise excellent appearance and play and sound very well with a minimum of surface noise – there is some source noise of varying degrees. The box has some minor wear along the bottom edge, some foxing on the bottom on the inside but is otherwise excellent as are the notes.
