Rare private signed 45 rpm rockabilly: BILLY GUITAR & HIS NITE HAWKS - Rockin Room Twist / Big Nick - Midnight Sun, MS 1047, released in the late 1950's or early 1960's; signed by Billy Guitar on A-side label.
Can't find much info about this; I don't see any other copies available online, but the only completed auction I could find had this to say: "Billy Guitar is a name used by Canadian Hank Noble, who released a couple of highly sought 50's rockabilly singles under the Billy Guitar moniker, on Apex and Decca ("Nite Hawks" is spelled "Nighthawks" on those releases). But this Billy Guitar single (with writing credits to Noble) does not show up in any discography that I can find. And the "Midnight Sun" label, best I can determine, was a mid-60's offshoot of Sun Records that was supposedly dedicated to releasing black artists (hence the name Midnight Sun, I guess), but Billy Guitar/Hank Noble was not black. Anyway, Rockin Room Twist is a guitar driven surf/rockabilly instrumental; Big Nick is perhaps intended as a spoof of Big Bad John."
Condition: VG+ (still glossy, soft scuffing, clean labels).
