Description

The © AP6.0 The Item:  From the collection of William George, NJ

Original Silvertone 5127

Artist: Jim Foster (real name Sam Collins)

Title: Jail House Blues / Yellow Dog Blues

Year: 1927

In Dead Shellac:  nothing in Dead Shellac

Note: If this record were not cracked it would probably sell in the range of $3000.00.

It is extremely rare and desirable.

Condition: I use VJM grading for all 78s

Record:

Visually: Repaired crack.  If not for crack Strong V.

Audio: If not for crack plays strong V+, crack does sound, louder at beginning of songs, lighter at end.  Overall the record plays nice and strong.

Cleaned on a VPI Vacuum machine with Nitty Gritty Pure 1 solution for 78s (this makes a huge difference on most records)

My Reference and Grading Audio System:

Audio grading is done with a pitch perfect KAB Broadcast Standard Technics 1210 Turntable and a Grado 78C Cartridge designed for Mono 78 record playback. (If you love vintage records and don't have one of these you owe it to yourself to hear what it can do for your 78s)

Check out the KAB Broadcast Standard: http://www.kabusa.com/kab_bst.htm

******Grado 78C specs so you can compare my grading cartridge to your listening cartridge:

The Prestige model 78C uses a three-piece OTL cantilever technology, oxygen free wire in the coils and a specially designed, high polished conical/spherical

3 mil. diamond mounted in a brass bushing.

(Thanks to NeedleDoctor.com)*****

Amp is a Vintage Eico HF-81 set for Mono playback.  Speaker: Single Mono Vintage University Coax.  I feel this is a very close to authentic set up.  I grade with Bass and Treble settings at zero for the most reliable read of actual record quality
