Description
Original sealed 1970 French / European pressing of this classic vinyl LP engineered by Roy Halee. CBS 63699
This version is, in my opinion as an enthusiastic and knowledgeable record collector for nearly 50 years, the pinnacle of all pressings of Bridge Over Troubled Water. This pressing surpasses all other pressings in terms of lowest noise floor, highest quality vinyl, highest fidelity and "you are there" sensations. The clarity is superb. The instrumental balance is superb. The midrange and ALL vocals are out of this world. And it is all analogue--not a vinyl pressing from high-resolution digital files as is so prevalent today.
Over 30 years ago, I was reading "The Absolute Sound" and saw a small advertisement for a little-known company called "Better Records." I telephoned them and got on their mailing list. They raved about a limited batch of these "new old stock" Euro pressings and I bought a few. I was blown away by every sound on this pressing. This LP does not need remastering.
This LP is one of two remaining sealed records from that purchase. I listen to the one I opened!
Until Analogue Productions obtains rights to do a 45-rpm UHQR pressing of this watershed LP, this is by far the best one available.
This particular album is flat, in new condition with no storage wear, no bent corners, etc. Please note that it does have a pinhole through the lower right front corner of the jacket.
