Simply Vinyl SVLP265 David Bowie Hunky Dory Ultra rare 180 Gram LP Test Pressing in M- or better condition. I have been grading LPs for many years (check the feedback). It looks unplayed under a harsh light. LP label looks like the cover and does have the proper catalog numbers in the LP trailoff. It is very likely that only 3-15 of these exist in the world.

Not only did the album boast more folky songs ("Song for Bob Dylan," "The Bewlay Brothers"), but he again flirted with Anthony Newley-esque dancehall music ("Kooks," "Fill Your Heart"), seemingly leaving heavy metal behind. As a result, Hunky Dory is a kaleidoscopic array of pop styles, tied together only by Bowie's sense of vision: a sweeping, cinematic mélange of high and low art, ambiguous sexuality, kitsch, and class. Mick Ronson's guitar is pushed to the back, leaving Rick Wakeman's cabaret piano to dominate the sound of the album. The subdued support accentuates the depth of Bowie's material, whether it's the revamped Tin Pan Alley of "Changes," the Neil Young homage "Quicksand," the soaring "Life on Mars?," the rolling, vaguely homosexual anthem "Oh! You Pretty Things," or the dark acoustic rocker "Andy Warhol." On the surface, such a wide range of styles and sounds would make an album incoherent, but Bowie's improved songwriting and determined sense of style instead made Hunky Dory a touchstone for reinterpreting pop's traditions into fresh, postmodern pop music.
Acetates and Test Pressings are the prototypes and test models of a recording. Before a record is mass produced, it is tested to see if it meets both artistic and technical approval.
The first pressings to be run off the mother are test pressings. It is after this second approval that the record is then mass produced... first promotional copies are pressed, then retail copies. Most test pressings are labeled... some are not.
Several masters can be cut and plated for manufacturing at several plants or to accommodate subsequent stamps. The first pressings of a new stamp are technically better than following pressings, and because test pressings and promotional copies are pressed on a limited run, they usually are more desirable and valuable.
