Description
The album "Fukushima" by Tokyo-based saxophonist/flutist Shinsuke Fujieda's group is a wonderful album. The cool sound of the sextet, which includes some of the most talented musicians in the scene, is reminiscent of 1970s modal/spiritual jazz, with occasional touches of classical, world music, and oriental music. The modal jazz "Fukushima (edit)" is led by flowing piano phrases, "Float In Oriental Spring (edit)" has an oriental atmosphere with even a hint of glamour, and "Silent Night (edit)" stands out for its comfortable groove with tight rhythm and supple bass line.
