Sippie Wallace; OKeh 8159 : "Can Anybody Take Sweet Mama's Place?" (Matrix 72579-B) / "Stranger's Blues"(Matrix 72580-B)
Dixon and Godrich (4th ed.) indicate recorded Chicago "c. 29 May 1924." Clarence Williams, Piano.
See photos for condition. I've tried to grade using the closest of ebay's' categories. The following description from another grading system is for a grade not used by ebay, but the description is pretty accurate: "Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level." Distortion in vocals more prominent toward end of each side. There is plenty of surface noise and scratches, but it tracks well and no cracks or chips. Does not have the original sleeve; will be in a replacement Kraft paper sleeve.
I've owned 78s for years and respect their fragility. To ship, I will place the record in a replacement Kraft paper sleeve, sandwich it between cardboard layers, and place in a larger box with foam popcorn.
