Several years ago, while listening to excellent Bay Area college radio station KFJC, a particular track of hypnotic, droning psych caught my ear -- buzzing, repetitive acoustic guitar and organ and a mysterious voice intoning "prayer for the su-unnnn..." over and over, all building into a loose, dirgey trance. Gorgeous. Further listening revealed the mysterious voice as belonging to Ben Chasny, aka Six Organs of Admittance. This is that very first Six Organs LP, issued in 1998 by Chasny's own Pavilion label in a screen-painted, hand-stamped cover edition of 400 copies. The darkly psychedelic 4-track explorations of this LP find the signature Six Organs sound fully in place -- acoustic guitars taken into a state of humming, reverberating submission, Chasny's resonant baritone, and detours into percussive experimentation, all ritualistic and, I'll say it again, thoroughly hypnotic. Comes with paste-on artwork on the back cover and a small card-paper insert. This album has been unavailable on vinyl for over fifteen years. Don't miss your chance to own one!
