Description
Skull Snaps- Same 1973 Original US pressing of this LP apparently used by many for sampling, DJ use etc. Excuse my ignorance, cause I'm not hip to today's youth sound stylings. I'm still listening to The Jazz Messengers! This has been in my collection for probably 20 +years and I just knew it as a funk LP with a bizzare cover more like that of the Dead or something. This is GSF-S-1011. No "Pimp" label on cover so I would say this is the earliest original release.
Cover condition as follows: Small used record store price tag of $1.99 on cover. Middle bottom of rear gatefold cover has a seam split approx 2.5". Top right of rear gatefold has approx 3/4" inch seam split. Spline intact showing wear. Very slight ring wear to front & rear cover especially considering black cover. VG
Vinyl is shiny and scuff free. Plays with no skips but does exhibit surface noise and pops. I would venture that a spin on a VPI or Nitty Gritty would improve tremendously. My AudioQuest brush can't get down deep enough to really get the old stuff out. Going by visual it would rate VG+. I am taking it down from there a bit as to the surface noise as I have played graded. Again, I believe a deep clean could easily bring back to VG+ . Just trying to be as honest as possible. I have included a many photos for reference. Please excuse the reflections of my ceiling fan etc. in the vinyl photos. The vinyl is still shiny and reflects. Ask questions if need be.
NOTE This is strict conservative play graded rating. Not pie in the sky visual grading of a 40 year old LP folks. Which means it's probably better than most. Also, this is ORIGINAL PRE "PIMP" label on cover. That means 1st earliest press. Just want to make sure everyone gets it.
