Small Faces - 'Small Faces'
Up for auction is an Original 1st pressing in Mono!!! Red Decca Label!!!
As I'm sure you already know, 'Small Faces' is another of those 'most desired/collectable' albums. As a result of its rarity and high demand due to a combination of its scarcity, iconicity and brilliant music, it attracts great attention every time one comes up for sale, who they do (just take a look elsewhere to see what I mean!!!).
Other listings elsewhere on the net price this very album at very substantial amounts.
Don't miss your opportunity to get your hands on this rare piece!
CONDITION:
Sleeve: 'Fair'/'Fair'+ - As you can see from the photos, this is a seasoned cover which displays the lots of use its had over the years (for such a brilliant album, I can't blame them to be honest!!!). Heavy tanning to the back with groups of pen writing present. Scuffing and storage wear, with the opening scuffed a few cm's, along with about a cm tear also in the same area to both the front and back, and a tear across the cover about 3cms. The bottom fold has become unstuck and could do with re-gluing or some sort of DIY. A photograph stuck inside. Creasing alone the spine, although the band names fully legible. Slight creasing in the laminate, although the main front cover still has a reasonable aesthetic to it. Obviously I can't glorify this as a vault copy or anything near it. I guess the best you can take away from it is that it has some character and signs of enjoyment over the years!!! Please study the photos and don't expect too much.
Vinyl: (Visually) 'Good' - Visually this has mostly light hairline marks, sleeve-removal fine lines and a few more significant marks wiped on both sides of the vinyl. Naturally, something like this would usually grade around the lower section of the grading system (although I do reserve that none of the marks are 'Feel-able', perhaps explaining why they are mostly only cosmetic). However, to my amazement, despite its aesthetic, when I played it very briefly (about 10 seconds) in the very centre of each track to get a brief idea, on my turntable, it sounded absolutely brilliant with a clear punchy sound with practically very little background noise at all. Clearly the disc on this quality pressing is very forgiving, and the marks are not deep enough to cause major sound effects. In light of this, especially with a forgiving turntable, I think many might be able to get a 'Very Good' sound out of this 'Good' looking disc. I hope this is the same on your turntable as it is mine. Although as I cannot be sure as we all have different audio setups, please just assume it is around a 'good', although I hope that for some of you it may play better than this.
I will place the cover in a strong PVC protective cover, and the vinyl in an antistatic inner (just a little gesture!). I will use bubble wrap and stiffeners to protect the package. Postage will be 1st class signed for Royal Mail. UK only.
See my 'other items' for more vinyl like this one.
Thanks.
