Soeur Sourire's (Sister Smile) The Singing Nun Features Hit Song "Dominique" Item Description
Up for your consideration we have the Soeur Sourire's first album "The Singing Nun" from Philips Records. Jeanine Deckers (17 October 1933 – 29 March 1985) joined the Dominican Order in Belgium as Sister Luc Gabriel. Her music and talent helped her become an internationally famed singer in 1963 as Soeur Sourire (translated meaning Sister Smile). In the English-language world she is known as "The Singing Nun" and in '63 had a hit song with the French-language song "Dominique".
What we have is original stereo pressing of The Singing Nun from 1963. This LP album is in EXCELLENT condition! The labels are flawless and the wax shows a high gloss with absolutely no marks or blemishes whatsoever! The jacket cover is in VERY GOOD condition, with little wear on the spine and some small smudges (see pictures). The attached booklet tells the story of how Sister Gabriel came to the convent and made this album, is illustrated by the good sister and is in excellent condition as is the added portfolio with three (3) color watercolor sketches of convent life. A uplifting album like NUN-thing you have heard before.
