Original 1st UK edition E.J. Day Group gatefold sleeve, 1st press A1/B1 C1/D1 matrix, original orange CBS eye labels, first press promotional inner sleeve ll in great condition
Released in 1970, Soft Machine’s “Third” marked a shift in musical genre from previous psychedelic to a more jazz infused sound.
Sleeve: EJ Day Group printed gatefold sleeve. Spine intact, proud and fully readable while all edges remain straight and true, no rips, splits or writing. Signs of light handling only, light edge wear and some light age related corner rub caused by shelf removal. No grubby marks etc.There is slight ringwear, which doesn't show up in photos although I have supplied the max number of pics! Graded VG+/EX-
Inner sleeves: Original CBS promotional inner sleeves, light creasing, one small rip and some writing - come with brand new poly lined sleeves
Labels: Original Orange CBS eye labels, clean light signs of play only - see photos EX
Vinyl: Visually all sides retain their original deep gloss minimum EX more EX+
Audio: Plays through clean, no hisses, pops, sticks or jumps. There is a little light static on the opening of S1 - easily got rid of with a pro-clean. Other that plays through clean - graded EX with S 3/4 EX+
I have tried to be honest and transparent in my description - the photographs form part of the description. Questions are welcome, don't hesitate to ask. I have good feedback (and positive comments) as both a buyer and seller, so you can buy with confidence. I am a collector of 40+ years the few records I sell are either the result of upgrades, duplicates or a bit of thinning every now and again. If anything is not as expected (or should you not agree with my grading) please contact me straight away, and I will do everything to resolve any problems without argument.
I strictly adhere to the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide using one + or - for addition guidance:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
