**Note on grading: We have been proud to send thousands of records to delighted customers, but there is always room for improvement, we want to continually strive to be as accurate, honest, and detailed as possible. Brief Comments: Yep, the same Dayton, OH based funk outfit the Solicitors, never got to record an lp, but left behind a string of 45's, on Excello, indie regional OH labels, and this one on Abet! Leroy Evans, Leon Robinson, the classic line-up before the schism resulted in "Funk-tion" separating, Robinson departing from the Solicitors (those 3 micro singles by Funk-Tion are killer funk/soul!), Ohio had so many soul/funk groups that have say one major label (sub-label, like Sussex, Abet, Paula, etc.) 45 release, a couple micro regional Ohio 45's, and no lp's (or conversely, one private press lp from OH), labels loved to court native Ohio bands in the 1960's / 1970's, because back then it was an enormous market, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Akron, Cincinnati, Youngstown, Toledo were all thriving cities, and the state is small enough to where you can't go an hour without bumping into one of the bigger OH cities (we don't count southeast Appalachia OH, the only OH region without a city of size, that really is more West Virginia "Part 2", and not in a bad way by any means, but in a accurate cultural way), it was Alan Freed, the Cleveland DJ who popularized the term "Rock N' Roll", playing singles non-stop (because Ohio was both a union state, and large blue-collar labor state, with integrated unions, they played everything, you get a lot of African-American rock bands, and white soul/funk groups because it was all music, the big radio stations had to play everything back to back to back, because the higher level of integration meant you couldn't do separate, which is cool!), Ohio unlike Michigan or Illinois, (Chicagoland with Cadet / Chess / Checker, and Detroit, Motown baby!), didn't have a major label with a home base, I remember in Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland, talking with folks who lived there back in the day, they were getting Motown, Stax, Cadet, ATCO/Atlantic, Abet, Polydor, Starday, Philadelphia International Records / Gamble, regional KY, IN, WV, not to mention a really interesting amount of Henry Stone Miami, FL T.K. label universe, you got The Temptations, The Dells, Isaac Hayes, The Delfonics, Funkadelic, James Brown, even stuff like James Knight & The Butlers made it's way there(!), Gwen McCrae, - Bill Withers (beloved in Ohio, he was from West Virginia, and everyone in the Buckeye state had love for Bill, stations would play his hits, no joke, "Lean On Me" 32 times in a row - Cleveland, OH, as an example), along with the world of Rock, Country, Pop, Jazz, etc. which one might think would create a state with no defining sound, instead, these influences, a true rich variety, made the Ohio sound, something where you wanted, had to level it up, that extra ingredient, Ohio sweet soul is very influenced by Philly Soul, but typically having hard-driving funk flips (a very OH thing!), Ohio funk tends to be jazzier, way outpacing the funkiest Motown, but with the range to go into mellow grooves. Given you could hardly walk a block without running into a recording studio or pressing plant, Ohio ended up with a disproportionate amount of local recordings, but then there's of course the Ohio Players, Roger Troutman, Zapp, Anita Baker, Bootsy Collins, among others.... James Brown recorded in Cincy, Dayton for King, and Bootsy built his funkiest ever line-up of the JB's! Playing original compositions was another Ohio pastime, or making sure if it was cover, to blow the holy smoke out of it ;) 
The Solicitors were no exception, it's why there sound is so unique to them, you can't readily find many comparisons if really any to cuts like "Robot Strut" or "Long Journey", dope instrumental deep-funk cuts, with jazzier feels, but don't sound like someone else. 
It's a shame, they were closest to getting an album deal with Abet (apart of "The Nashboro Group", so was Excello, where they had the two prior 45's, by 1972 it was Abet that was considered the most fitting for heavy funk/jazzier type of group), but the 1973 oil embargo hit, while Abet was still thinking, and due to the high sudden shock in vinyl costs, they didn't sign The Solicitors, or release any subsequent tracks....

*Tariffs aren't going to impact used vinyl records / music media, we wish they were never in place at all, so for international buyers, don't worry on that account!
For our record grading, we stand by the merits outlined in the scale below, anything VG or below will have a detailed explanation in brackets next to the grade.
For sleeves, we will mention anytime there is split, or defect not visible in the photos in brackets next to the grade, otherwise we refer to the photos for the merit of the grade. Of course any questions, concerns, are always welcome :) 
Our media grading scale is as follows: [*Quick note, our VPI is still in storage on the other side of the US, we do brush clean many  items carefully, but we have to prioritize, we won't leave anyone stranded with a filthy record, only "filthy" good! We don't factor dust particles into the grading]
NM = Essentially a pristine album, like new, rarely used.
EX = Under bright light if there is any scuffs or mark, which will be inaudible, most collectors and sellers would tend to consider it closer to NM, EX is also the grade others might call VG++ under the same level of conservative scrutiny.
VG+ = More then a small handful of scuffs, light marks, nothing feelable, will have high-gloss, a thoroughly enjoyable copy that may only have tiny moments of barely perceptible surface noise overpowered by the music. Our VG+ will satisfy the vast majority of collectors as a nice keeper copy, as collector's ourselves for nearly two decades, this grade is aimed to be a great keeper. Note if say the record has a light DNAP warp, but otherwise is NM, we will automatically put it to VG+ and detail that. Another scenario is if a copy plays at a solid EX, but visually is VG, the composite grade will be VG+, and detailed as such.
VG = More hairlines, more marks, maybe a few visible scratches, no more then two feelable scratches (which automatically lowers to VG-), there likely will be surface noise, but will play through, still being an enjoyable copy, the audio quality will satisfy most collector's (the golden rule: if it doesn't satisfy us, it won't be VG), if a record is otherwise EX, but has a slight momentary skip, where 99% of the record is EX, we will note that, and put it at VG. Usually will retain a nice gloss.
VG- = More Scratches than VG, surface noise will jump out more, it be overpowered for longer stretches, or compete with the music in places, it will likely play all the way through on most turntables, a copy that you can still get a decent play enjoyment from.
G+ = Lots of scratches, deeper ones, surface noise now mostly overpowers or competes with the music. It may skip in some places. We don't tend to sell G+ copies, unless the rarity is so great, and that will be precisely detailed.
Thrashed = Pretty much a "Theoretical Grade" for us, it be for all intents & purposes virtually unplayable, it would be for display purposes, or perhaps if you needed the cover but not the record. It's "theoretical" because so far we haven't sold or identified anything intended to sell at this bottom level.

We have it set to 5 day shipping / handling time, as a just in case, typically about 98.7% of our orders are shipped out the day of payment (first day the post office is open), with the vast majority being the second day. We'll message on the extraordinary off-chance if doesn't go out on Tuesday (our auctions mostly ending on Saturdays, Sundays), with the reason and day it will go out, so far that's only happened once on a giant order, and all was well.
