For a group of young men from Somerset, Kentucky, IT WAS A VERY SPECIAL YEAR. On January 16th, following a Wednesday evening Prayer Service, these four gentlemen; Gary Sloan, Bill Cundiff, Joey Hargis, and Larry Lovins, united together in a Ministry in Song for the edification of the One who brought them together. Through their desire to share the Gospel, and the Grace of our Lord and Savior, they emerged from this meeting and formed this Quartet. They would become known as THE COUNSELLOR’S. After much prayer, they started to pursue that purpose which God had burdened their hearts with, under the inspiration and guidance of a very dear lady, Mrs. Elizabeth Brooks. Mrs. Brooks was the original pianist for the group. Her musical knowledge established a firm foundation upon which the Counsellor’s could build an effective Ministry. Mrs. Brooks will always have a special place in the hearts of these men, for the encouragement and devotion which she gave to them. Later in the year, The Counsellor’s were joined by two wonderful Christian musicians. Eddie Epperson became the pianist, and Gene Ladd added depth and dimension to the over-all sound with his Drums. Eddie is largely responsible for the vocal arrangements which you will hear on this album. Now, meet the Counsellor’s Quartet. The smooth First Tenor voice belongs to Gary Sloan. Bill Cundiff will thrill you with his unique Lead stylings. The full, rich Baritone voice of Joey Hargis is a consistant stabilizing force within the over-all sound. The anchor voice is that of Larry Lovins, one the better Bass voices in the world today. Each of these young men could be a soloist in his own right. When you hear them collectively, I think you’ll agree that they have made a wise decision. In less than one year’s time, The Counsellor’s have truly been blessed of God. Each blood bought man has one desire and one purpose. That being to always uplift the Kingdom of God, and to share with others, the un-merited Grace of Christ while constantly seeking the will of THE WONDERFUL COUNSELLOR, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, THE PRINCE OF PEACE.
