Description
After rejection by Capitol, Brian Epstein contracted with smaller labels that were willing to take a chance with The Beatles. One of these was the privately owned Vee Jay Records. In England, The Beatles released their first Parlophone LP, titled Please, Please Me. The tapes were then sent to Vee Jay for distribution. Toward the close of 1963, Capitol reversed themselves, and they launched the largest advertising campaign in the label’s history. All this sparked litigation between Vee Jay and Capitol. On October 12, 1964, Vee Jay released their final Beatles title called Songs, Pictures And Stories Of The Fabulous Beatles (VJLP 1092). This time, the impression was that the buyer could learn intimate facts about each of the Beatles, plus obtain photographs. The record issued, however, was a repackaging of Introducing The Beatles. The record enclosed was actually their original title and catalogue number (VJLP-1062). The album fared better than previous releases but unsuspecting consumers were in fact re-purchasing the Introducing The Beatles record.
