Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

This auction is for an original 1964 copy of the America VeeJay LP 'Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles'. This is 100% authentic and is NOT one of the numerous counterfeits and bootlegs that are on the market.
When the Beatles first tried to break America, Capitol refused to release their songs. Undeterred, George Martin started looking around some of the smaller labels. One of these was VeeJay, who were a small label specialising mainly in gospel music. They took the contract on and issued the album 'Introducing... the Beatles'. After the group broke huge in America VeeJay released that they had an entire album's worth of material of the hottest band of the moment. But the LP they had originally released it all on, 'Introducing the Beatles', was already selling. So VeeJay decided to repackage the same album, even so far as to use the same Intro discs, in a completely different sleeve to try and convince the public that it was a brand new Beatles album. They weren't fooled and so this LP sold poorly.
The Cover - Countefeit copies of this LP don't have the 3/4 gatefold and so omit the 'stories' part of the title. Because of this, the album has actually been retitled to 'Songs and Pictures of the Fabulous Beatles' and the 'Look Inside' text is also missing. The copy on sale here is 100% authentic with gatefold, full title and 'Look Inside' text.
The disc - Introducing the Beatles - is one of, if not THE, most counterfeited disc in music history. This disc features every characteristic of a later authentic pressing. The later presses of this disc had all-black labels as the pressing plants had run out of labels and just solid black paper purely to keep production going. The disc features a run-off deadwax of less than 1" (counterfeit copies are over 1") and 'Introducing the Beatles' and 'The Beatles' are both above the spindlehole. On fake copies the spindlehole separates these two lines. This LP is 'VJ 1062 (2).MR4B' in Bruce Spizer's VeeJay book and was pressed by Columbia Record, Conn.
Due to how poorly this LP sold back in the day copies very seldomly come up for sale these days, and then they do they're pretty rough. This is a very respectible copy of this very rare LP!

The sleeve is holding up but is showing its age somewhat. The front is looking clean but has some rubbing and wear as you can see in the photos above but overall looks nice - nothing serious. Top seam is holding but has split on the right about 4-5 inches in from the mouth edge. There's a small piece of black tape right on the edge to keep the split closed at the mouth edge. Bottom seam is holding a little better, but has a small piece of small tape right at the mouth edge to protect it from splitting any further. The spine has a little wear on the edges but has not split and is fully legible bar a little wear at the bottom just obscuring the catalogue number a little. The back cover has some wear and rubbing as you can see and there's a slight dirt mark on pink Paul's cheek. Inside gatefold is really clean and there's a little split on the inside of the spine as you can see in the photo. Overall, looking very nice! Most covers usually turn up pretty trashed, but this one is a very decent example! Disc : VG+/EX-
The playing surface has a really nice, sharp shine to it. There's a fair amount of light, faint scuffing but there's nothing at all serious. Overall, looking really nice!!..

The labels are clean with sharp, bright silver text. There's just a little, light, very faint spindlewear and a hint of whitening around the centrehole on the side 1 labels. But, overall, the labels are looking top!
