Sonic’s Rendezvous Band is one of the most legendary and influential Detroit rock groups of the late 1970s, featuring members of MC5, The Stooges, and The Rationals. The band included:
Fred “Sonic” Smith of MC5
Scott Asheton of The Stooges
Michael Davis of MC5
Scott Morgan of The Rationals
Though short lived, Sonic’s Rendezvous Band is considered one of the most important bridges between Detroit proto-punk and the rise of hard rock and punk influenced underground music.
City Slang is widely regarded as their signature track and one of the greatest Detroit rock recordings of all time. It has been covered, praised, and cited by countless artists and collectors as a defining moment in rock history.
