Description
Artist: Sonny Clark Title: Sonny's Crib Label/Number: Blue Note BLP-1576 (M) Jacket condition: VG Record condition: VG Notes: This is one of those records that I list on occasion that qualifies as "rough but rare". The cover is in decent condition with some ring wear and some seam and corner wear. The spine is split and neatly taped for its full length. Both the top and bottom seams are split and neatly taped for about 2 inches from the opening. Overall the cover is not trashed but it's a bit rough--worthy of the VG grade I've given it. The labels are 47 West 63rd versions. Side 1 is a little rough with some writing and quite a few spindle marks. Side 2 is in nice shape with just a couple of light spindle marks. The vinyl still has pretty good gloss but it has quite a few scuffs and scratches that, for appearance alone, lead me to grade it down to VG. Side 1 plays with a fair amount of background noise and some light "ticks and pops". Side 2 plays a lttile better with some background noise and a few light "ticks". Side 2 also has a couple of very quick skips that don't detract much. Overall, the classic music predominates but the record is far from perfect. Grading: Grading is usually only visual unless there are obvious problems that need to be checked out. I did play this one as noted above. I use Goldmine standards with a VG++ added for items NOT QUITE up to NM. I try to be conservative and grade as though I were buying the record. Mono (M) or Stereo (S) is noted after catalog number. Don't hesitate to e-mail questions. Mailing and costs: Domestic shipping is via USPS, media mail. I do require delivery confirmation as a protection for both myself and the buyer. This is a cheaper alternative to requiring insurance on each package. Of course, insurance will still be optional at a buyer's request and expense. I also add $1.50 to cover the cost of a new custom record mailer and pads. Therefore, the total handling fees are $2.30--$1.50 for the mailers/pads and $.80 for delivery confirmation. Overseas shipping on purchases under $50.00 may be sent by USPS First Class Mail International but I will upgrade at the buyer's request. Orders for more than $50.00 will need to be by Priority Mail International. This provides added protection for both the buyer and for me. The price will be the actual shipping costs plus the $1.50 noted above for the mailer and pads.
I always mail in a poly sleeve with the record outside the jacket. If there's an original inner sleeve I also remove the record from that and put it in a plain sleeve for mailing. That way, there are no seam splits on either the jacket or the sleeve due to any handling in the mail.
