Sonny Rollins Quartet ' Tenor madness ' PRESTIGE PRLP 7047 (USA) mono yellow Bergenfield label with deep groove - rec. on May 24, 1956 and originally issued in 1956 - this is the 1958 issue - on trail-off (dead wax) has stamped 'RVG' for Rudy Van Gelder Sonny Rollins : tenor sax - Red Garland : piano - John Coltrane : tenor sax (on 'Tenor madness' only) - Paul Chambers : bass - Philly Joe Jones : drums Side 1 : Tenor madness (Rollins) - When your lover has gone (Swan) Side 2 : Paul's pal (Rollins) - My reverie (Clinton) - The most beautiful girl in the world (Rodgers-Hart) Visual grading : record is EX- to EX full lustre has minimal wear and few very light unfeelable lines barely visible. Clean labels with just a trace of spindle wearPlaying grading : record is EX plays very well with loud and clear sound. Very few light occasional ticks Cover grading : cover is G- - (Good minus minus) has wear to corners, edges and to spine. Laminated front cover is nice. Back cover has a large tear on bottom which also includes on lower left side the written liner notes (see pic). On top of back has a stamp 'Not for sale'
