Description
Sonny Rollins - Sonny Rollins Vol. 2
(Blue Note Records BST 81558 USA Stereo LP 1957)
This is a late 1960's USA Stereo LP pressing, circa 1967. It has a heavyweight matte sleeve which has the "Liberty Records..." credit on the front sleeve. This is at the bottom spine area. It comes with a period UK polythene lined inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has
blue & white "Blue Note" labels. These have the "A Division Of Liberty Records INC." text. The labels are grooved also. The matrix numbers are as follows:
Side 1: BNST-81558-A
Side 2: BNST-81558-B
There are no other markings in the dead wax areas. This is a genuine late 1960's USA Stereo pressing of this excellent Hard Bop/ Modern Jazz LP. The quality of late 60's U.S. pressings is still extremely good. They are the best alternative to pricey 1st Pressings/ Early pressings. The sleeve is, unfortunately, quite worn on this copy. However, the vinyl is very nice and clean. Playback is Near Excellent to Excellent overall too.
I have some other rare & collectable 1960's, early 1970's Jazz LP's for sale too. This includes some other Sonny Rollins LP's. So please see my other listings.
Sleeve: There is an 8 cm seam split on the top edge at the sleeve opening. There is a 3 cm area of considerable rubbing wear on the top edge at the spine. This has worn through to the card underneath. There is a 4 cm seam split on the bottom edge at the sleeve opening. There is some other mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the top edge on some areas. There is some light, mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the bottom edge on some areas. There are several areas of more moderate rubbing wear to the spine face. This is mainly on the bottom half of the spine. There is mild or very mild fading to the rear sleeve. There is mild, very mild or more moderate ringwear on some areas. Overall, Good condition
Vinyl: There are a few light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. They are mainly on the dead wax areas. Overall, Very Near Excellent condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear only. The period UK polythene-lined inner sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are a couple of mild clicks in a couple of places on Side 2. Overall, a very decent audio copy!
