Description
Elektra EKL-14, “Folk Blues” with Sonny Terry and Alec Stewart, from 1954. This is an early 10” Elektra LP with Sonny Terry on vocals and mouth harp and Alec Seward on guitar, here using his alternative name. The vinyl plays overall at VG++ with much of the record noise-free; there are some clicks on Side A. The jacket seams have some color loss, and there is some heavier wear on 1” (2 cm) of the bottom seam at the opening; there is mild corner wear and some ringwear (see scan); the jacket back is basically clean with no writing or stamps. Songs are “Fox Chase”, “Talking about the Blues”, “Red River”, “John Henry”, “Mama Told Me”, “Moaning and Mourning Blues”, “In the Evening”, and “Goodbye Leadbelly”. The last is Sonny’s tribute to Leadbelly several years after his death. I do not believe this issue came with a separate booklet of descriptive notes. At any rate none is promised on the jacket as is usual for most other 10" issues. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $16.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $11.75 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
