Slaughter & the Dogs are an English punk rock band that formed in 1975 in Wythenshawe, Manchester, England. They were one of the first UK punk bands to sign with a major label, Decca. Their original line-up consisted of Wayne Barrett (vocals), Mick Rossi (guitar), Brian "Mad Muffet" Grantham (drums) and Howard "Zip" Bates (bass). That's the line-up which created and released the 12-track album (SKL 5292) on offer here, 'Do It Dog Style'. It was their debut LP and very well received by those into the music. The name "Slaughter & the Dogs" was created by singer Barrett by combining the names of Diamond Dogs and Slaughter on 10th Avenue, two of his favourite albums. They were one of the first punk rock bands in North West England, supporting the Sex Pistols at their gig at Manchester Lesser Free Trade Hall on 20 July 1976. Both sides of the record here and conservatively described as in very good/very good+ visual condition with just the odd visual scuff, none of which have affected the excellent sound quality. The cover is in at least vg+ condition - I think most would accept it to be excellent,in fact. This is now a scarce record to find - certainly in this condition and as a first pressing such as this- and prices reflect that.Truly a punk collector's essential item.
