Description
This record is hard to let go of for many reasons. I had the privilege to work with the two guys who produced and mixed it, working for the mix engineer for two+ years and having MB work with a band I managed. It's also the first Soundgarden record I liked having heard their previous work with friends who really dug them. Lastly, I've had this record since 1997-ish and it's been a mainstay of my collection, though I seldom listen to it. Maybe once a year. To let it go now seems weird. I had intended to sell it a while back, but got distracted and never did. Now that CC has passed, I don't know if there will ever be a good time to sell it. So, choosing crappy vs. crummy, I'm listing it now.
Let's talk condition. The jacket is in good condition and has been in plastic since day 1 of my ownership. It's got some ring wear, a ding or two on the corners, and an odd bulge inside the gatefold on the right side. The bulge a flaw in production and nothing I did. It's never been an issue to me and I doubt it'll be for you.
The vinyl is very good as each record has been minimally played and been stored and will come in MOFI anti-stat sleeves. The surface noise is minimal and on par with the best records I have. It is interesting to hear the singles on the LP vs. radio since A&M must've done radio mixes. Though the LP mixes keep the record cohesive. Basically, it sounds great. The lyric sheets are as they were originally and I've kept the old sleeves for posterity sake and will include them as well. All in all, this is a very good album with the wax being better than the jacket. A situation I'll take any day.
Please ask any questions before buying. Record quality is subjective, with differences in cartridges and turntables adding(or subtracting) to the overall perceived sound. The last listen I had, and the one I'm basing this description on, was using Shure V15iii cartridge. If you plan on listening to this on a Crosley or on something cheap, please don't expect great sound.
