ALLEN KWELA Xmas Night Jive/Year 1962 Blues South African Winner OK 072 1961 E+ before he took up the guitar, Allen Kwela played a very fine solo pennywhistle (though his claims, made in the 90s, that 'kwela music' had taken its name from him was total poppycock) - here he is backed up by what sounds like the Elite Swingsters' sax section (probably Paul Rametsi, Peter Mokonotela and Shumi Ntutu) plus their guitarist, Rex Ntuli, and bass and drums from Trutone's stable
