MAHOTELLA QUEENS Ashikinisi/Sayibamba South African Motella MO25 E 1964 When he first arrived at Gallo, Rupert Bopape began to recruit another group of female vocalists to replace those he'd left behind at EMI (who were, for the most part, still under contract there) and then started to release records using various newly-created names, one of which was the 'Mahotella Queens'. 'Ashikinisi' was the first version of a song that later became 'Ashikinisi Jive Mqashiyo', only here the chorus is 'Ashikinisi jive Motella'. The production department got confused and swapped the titles around - the Ashikinisi label plays Sayibamba and vice versa.
