Description
This is a QRS 78rpm record of the South Street Ramblers doing "Endurance Stomp" and "Some Do and Some Don't" Q.R.S. Number R 7019.
The condition of the record is "V". There is considerable scuffing and graying. Record plays strongly on a Stanton 3.3 mil stylus. There are no cracks. Light scratches are visible but they do not sound. There is a small needle dig on "Some Do ..". By and large it is a very playable copy.
Clarence Williams is on the piano. This record is extremely rare and there are not many opportunities to obtain a copy
Record Grading
My grading system follows the standard 78 rpm record grades, as follows:
New (N): Apparently unplayed and showing no signs of wear.
New Minus (N-): Nearly mint but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.
Excellent Plus (E+): Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.
Excellent (E): Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.
Excellent Minus (E-): Still shiny but without the luster of a new record, few light scratches.
Very good Plus (V+): An average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise is not overly pronounced.
Very Good (V): Moderate even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.
Very Good Minus (V-): Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.
Good Plus (G+): Grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.
Good (G): quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
Good Minus (G-): music still prominent, but wear and scratch damage extensive.
Fair (F): Most of the music remains audible over surface noise but listening now uncomfortable.
Poor (P): unplayable.
