Southern Journey 6- Folk Songs from the Ozarks- Field Recordings by Alan Lomax, released by the Prestige International Documentary Series (INT-DS 25006 A/B) in the early 1960's out of Bergenfield, NJ. Original Microgroove Pressing!- (see photo of maroon label)
*These wonderful field recordings from 1959 & 1960 represent a rich musical region that had previously been undocumented. This represents the first time the great Almeda Riddle had ever been on a record (3 tracks), whose beautiful vocals are very similar to unaccompanied Appalachian ballad singing. Five of the tracks feature the wonderful Neil Morris (who surprisingly is folk singer Jimmie Driftwood's father). He also performs unaccompanied vocal ballads, as well as absolutely stunning ballads with his own guitar accompaniment, and a very rare recorded example of an archaic, backwoods mouthbow breakdown! This also includes is banjo breakdowns by Carlos Shannon, archaic old-time fiddle by Absy Morrison, and more unaccompanied ballad singing by Ollie Gilbert, sung in a very similar style as Almeda Riddle.*
The thick Vinyl is visually graded in VG condition. When looked at under a very bright light, the record shows a rich luster and a fair amount of very light surface marks. This will play with a very full sound, but a minimal amount of surface noise will occasionally be heard.
The Cover is graded in VG- condition, due to a full seam-split across the top and an additional 3-inch seam-split on the left seam (spine). Otherwise, it shows some relatively minor ring & edge wear and a few minor stamps on the back of the cover. Overall, it still looks nice and has largely maintained its original color.
Shipping is calculated by ebay at the actual cost for you, the consumer. I don't charge any extra fees for material or handling.
For combined shipping, please add $1 for each additional LP you purchase. If you buy many records from me, I can ship them all together in one box, and charge you the actual cost I pay at the post office. International customers, please keep in mind that once you reach 4 pounds (roughly 4 LPs+), 1st Class International is no longer a shipping option, and you must ship Priority or Express.
Insurance is your option as a buyer. International customers, please keep in mind that you can only insure your item if you ship Express, which can be very expensive. Please contact me if you would prefer this option.
