Description

Vinly records by Harry & Jeanie West.

Harry and Jeanie West are widely renowned as some of the greatest and most authentic American Folk musicians to have ever recorded. Their playing and singing is so highly esteemed that the Smithsonian Institute has selected their music as the official representative music for Bluegrass, Old-Time Folk, and Mountain Ballads for their archive. The duo originally began performing together in 1949 and has never stopped since. They have made regular appearances at many folk festivals all the way into the 21st century, including the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival in Asheville, NC. During the 1950s and 1960s they recorded many albums and were highly successful due to the Folk Revival of the time. The tracks on this album were recorded in 1953 and showcase traditional songs from the Smoky Mountains in Southern Appalachia. These songs are part of our great American Heritage and are sure to be enjoyed by any fan or aficionado of traditional American folk music.
