Description
This 10-inch, 78 rpm disk features "Song of the Fatherland" (????? ? ??????) from the Soviet propaganda film "One Day in Soviet Russia."on the A-side, and "Forward to Victory" (?????? ? ??????!), from the Soviet propaganda film "The Red Tanks" on the B-side. The US distributor's label indicates it was sung by the Moscow Military Chorus, Courtesy of Artkino Pictures, Inc.The record label indicates it was recorded in the Soviet Union. Online sources indicate it was recorded in 1939.
Both sides sound quite good. I'm generally not much into martial music, but Forward to Victory is a rousing toe-tapper. I'm not sure why it was the B-side choice. I suspect I don't share Stalin's taste in music. ;-)
