Made by 24-year-old Moroccan-born composer DidierMarouani, Just Blue is a prog and classical disco fusion album that redefinesbombastic with its hands-in-the-air oddity. The title track is a gentle throb,a pseudo-classical gander across a well-trodden disco path, but one with huge,echoey reverb on the bass synth, while Blue Tears is spectrally deep, a sighingcosmic breath from within a dusty, wood-covered, button-heavy synthesizer. Thenthere's Symphony, which redefines bombastic: this is a hands-in-the-air,multi-voiced oddity that breaks down to tick-tock tremulously along itstimeline before being elevated by a glorious robot choir. Secret Dreamsfeatures two wildly contrasting (and both beautifully horrible) synth noisesthat rub up against some twinkling bells before breaking down into aComfortably Numb-like axe-a-thon. But it's our old friend Final Signal that'sthe killer jam here featuring, as it does, a heavily processed fretless bassgoing buckwild over a decidedly Moroder-esque throb and a heavily stereo-pannedkeyboard - it is ludicrous and wonderful disco-sploitation genius of the firstwater.
