Description
The Special AKA GANGSTERS vs The SELECTER 1979 2 Tone 45 rpm 7" vinyl single
This is a very rare, limited edition, original copy of Gangsters Disc, label and cover in excellent, unmarked condition.
The single was initially distributed via Rough Trade Records, who persuaded the band to produce 5000 copies, twice what the band had originally intended. The single was issued in a (now very rare) plain white (thin card) sleeve, stamped by the band themselves with the words The Special AKA GANGSTERS vs. THE SELECTER. The band were then soon signed to Chrysalis Records, who were more than happy to sign both The Specials and the 2 Tone label. Chrysalis later pressed up more copies of the single in the now familiar 2 Tone sleeve resulting in a top 10 hit and the biggest selling independent single of 1979
EXCELLENT CONDITION: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
